I’d spent hours generating over 20 polished STAR interview answers with both ChatGPT and Claude. I tweaked every story until it sounded like me — just a more confident, structured version. But when it came time to actually remember those answers, I hit a wall.
Reading them on a screen wasn’t enough.
So I printed every single one out.
There’s something about holding paper in your hands that cements ideas. I circled key phrases — processes, punchlines, the little moments that made my stories real. I underlined what felt most "me."
Then I took it one step further: I summarized each answer by hand. I distilled 30 pages of notes into 3 pages of stories and frameworks. Writing forced me to slow down, process, and internalize. Suddenly, I wasn’t just reciting responses — I was living them.
If you’re using AI to prep for interviews, try this analog step:
- Print your AI-generated answers
- Annotate — circle, underline, highlight
- Rewrite them by hand
It’s old-school. But it works.
You might be surprised how much more confident — and authentic — you sound.
