You knew you could search by city, or even by major metro areas like NYC or the Bay Area. But have you tried searching by county?
After months of casting a national net, I started zooming in on my own backyard. One day, I drove past the Boehringer Ingelheim campus near my kid’s horseback riding lesson. I looked them up — and discovered they had a PM role open that was right in my wheelhouse.
That same role would have appeared in a LinkedIn search scoped to Fairfield County, Connecticut. But it wouldn’t have shown up in a city-based search. Not everything hyperlocal is visible at the city level.
A simple tip: go beyond city filters. Search by county. Browse local business parks. Ask your neighbors.
You never know when an opportunity is one left turn away.
